If you chance upon my blog and you have a plus-size sewing blog (sewing size 16 and above on either top or bottom) that isn't listed, please let me know.

  1. woohoo I am thrilled to find this list. Thanks for posting it.
I am a plus size woman who sews all of her bottom half clothing and alters bought tops most of the time. I haven't blogged about it (I am considering it) but I like to read others blogs for ideas etc.

Now I have found another blog to read and enjoy.

  2. Hi! I am happy to find this list of sites for sewing plus size clothing. Please add my http://www.squidoo.com/plus-size-sewing page to the list. Thank you for putting this list together. Lots of reading on my to-do list now.

  3. http://www.thecurvyelle.com/ I didn't see it on there! It is pretty cool and her clothes are also for sale if you don't sew. :)

  4. Hi, I don't really class myself as a plus-size sewist buts that's only because I don't like us putting ourselves in boxes, however I'm a size 20 neckline to bust, 22-24 at waist and size 24-26 hip and I try to make things that are colourful and have a sense of fun. Thank you for this list of other blogs I've missed, it's fab.
Here's a link to my growing archive of things I've sewn: http://fanbloomingtastic.typepad.com/blog/things-ive-sewn.html

    1. I know what you mean about not classifying people as plus-size sewist. I like the list and to keep track though because it's so very useful to see what techniques and styles curvier women are using. And I think that a lot of thin women would benefit from some of these techniques. In high school, my mom and I were sewing me size 16 clothing when I really probably should have been size 10 with FBA's. I love your link and I'm slowly getting used to wearing more colorful, fun clothing myself.

    2. I think the list is fab Kimberley and am checking a lot of the blogs I hadn't found before. It's that dilemma of not putting yourself in a box because society definitely wants to, BUT when I was starting out sewing I wish I'd found your list then to get some inspiration and see how confident I could making things that properly fitted me from those further along the road....thank you! And good luck with colour, it's worth it for improving the mood :)

    2. Check out the blog archives --- plenty of sewing stuff!!

I am required to promote my class and plus size lingerie patterns so I use my blog to do so. Earlier blogs are on size acceptance, why RTW garments don't fit anyone well much less plus sizes, on "fat-o-phobia" in the RTW world, how I made ALL the apparel for my daugnter's wedding including her gown and veil, 4 bridesmaids' dresses, 5 tuxedoes and bow ties, and my dress. I just got an email and a nice big bonus check from a woman who just finished her daughter's gown by reading my blog "The Dressmaker's Daughter's Wedding" and following my process: when she got stuck she referred to my blog and it got her through! So, there is plenty of sewing stuff and fat acceptance information, too.

Your readers might enjoy a link to my class for HALF PRICE on Craftsy, "Plus Size Pattern Fitting and Design"

I am also the author of "Sewing for Plus Sizes" from The Taunton Press.

You can view pics of my custom dressmaking, much of it for plus sizes, on my website at www.barbaradeckertcouture.com

By the way, your site is a great list of sewing blogs. I am SO GLAD there is so much more information available to plus size sewers now then when I wrote my book 15 years ago -- and I hope I had some hand in that!!

      Best,

      Miss Barbara
